A room that follows the conversation: how we upgraded Accord Healthcare’s Oak Conference Room

SPOR Group | Updated 2026

A hybrid meeting only works when the people on the screen can see who’s talking. At Accord Healthcare’s Stockley Park office, they couldn’t. Remote colleagues saw one static wide shot of the boardroom, with no way to tell who was speaking.
Here’s how we changed that.
What needed to change
Accord wanted meetings in the Oak Conference Room to feel more dynamic and engaging for remote participants. They also needed a simple way for people in the room to hold private discussions without being heard or seen on the call. That came down to three requirements:
Remote attendees needed to clearly see whoever was speaking or presenting.
In-room teams needed a quick way to mute outgoing audio for private conversations.
The upgrade had to work with the room’s existing Crestron and Shure systems.
What we delivered
We replaced the room’s single camera with an intelligent multi-camera system. A Crestron Automate VX Pro switches automatically between six cameras based on who is talking, using the room’s microphone positions to know exactly where each voice is coming from. Six cameras cover the presenter and every seat, so remote attendees always see the person who is speaking.
For private conversations, wireless keypads at the table let the team mute the room or turn on camera privacy in one touch.
Design. Camera positions and seating were mapped to microphone coordinates, so tracking follows each speaker.
Integrate. Six cameras, voice-activated switching and Shure mute sync, all on a dedicated AV network.
Support. Every device was added to SPORTrack, with full asset lists and warranty information.

Rooms that work don’t happen by accident
The best meeting rooms are designed, integrated, taught, managed and monitored. That thinking runs through our Connected Workplace Report, built on real service data from the 1,500+ rooms we support.
One finding from the report: 40% of categorised faults hit what remote participants hear and see, which means audio and cameras. Getting those right matters most when half the meeting is on a screen.*
Accord Healthcare is one of the rooms featured in the report, alongside Deloitte, Monzo, Amundi and more. Get the free Connected Workplace Report.
